CONGRATULATIONS TO ASPIRA BOARD MEMBER VICTOR AFANADOR - FIRM TO BE RENAMED LITE DEPALMA GREENBERG & AFANADOR LLC.

As of January 1, 2021, ASPIRA Inc., of New Jersey's Board Secretary and member,
Victor Afanador, will be publicly acknowledged by his firm of Lite DePalma Greenberg,
LLC, with a name change that is reflective of all of his years of service and hard work.
The firm will now be known as  Lite DePalma Greenberg & Afanador, LLC., 
marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for his storied legal career.
 

Mr. Afanador joined Lite DePalma Greenberg LLC in November 2001 and joined in
partnership in 2008. In his 19 years, he has distinguished himself as a skilled and talented
advocate for public and private clients in a wide variety of areas, including: employment
litigation/counseling; cannabis counseling; constitutional civil rights defense; and criminal 
defense/white collar investigations.

Outside of work, Mr. Afanador continues to be a staunch supporter of ASPIRA. His passion
is to create academic and leadership opportunities for underserved Latino youth
throughout local and greater New Jersey community.

Needless to say, Mr. Afanador is a lifelong Newarker, a proud Costa Rican/Puerto Rican man,
and recognizes that his accomplishments will have a tremendous impact on the community
at large.
 

CAREER EXPERIENCE & HIGHLIGHTS
 

  • Significant United States Supreme Court experience in litigating, editing and oral argument preparation in the matter Heffernan v. City of Paterson, No. 14-1280, 578 U.S. ___ (2016) (A First Amendment Freedom of Association case).
     

  • Argued before the Supreme Court of New Jersey (March of 2014) in an issue of public importance involving the Faulkner Act, the New Jersey Civil Rights Act, and the right to referendum in the published opinion. Tumpson v. Farina, 218 N.J. 450 (2014).

 

  • Significant litigation, bench and jury trial experience before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, United States District Court for the Northern District of California, Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the Superior Court of New Jersey (Law Division, Criminal Division, Special Civil Part, Landlord Tenant, and Chancery), Office of Administrative Law, and Municipal Court.
